Apple Calendar (iCloud) integration: Caletus + Apple Calendar (iCloud)

Connect your iCloud calendar to Caletus with an app-specific password. Busy times in iCloud block your booking slots, and each new booking is added to the iCloud calendar you pick.

What it does

What Caletus does with Apple Calendar (iCloud).

  • Removes times that are busy on the iCloud calendars you pick from your booking slots
  • Checks iCloud again when someone books, so a slot that just filled up can't be taken
  • Adds each new booking to one iCloud calendar of your choice, with the join link and invitee details
  • Updates the iCloud event when a booking is rescheduled and deletes it when it's cancelled
  • Offers a read-only calendar link option that blocks busy times without a password
Setup

How to connect Apple Calendar (iCloud) to Caletus.

Before you connect
  • An Apple ID with Calendars turned on in iCloud.
  • An app-specific password created at appleid.apple.com (not your regular Apple ID password). The calendar link option needs a public iCloud calendar link instead.
  1. 1

    Open the Apple Calendar card

In Caletus, open Integrations, find Apple Calendar under Calendars and click Connect. Choose Full sync, or Calendar link if you only want busy times blocked.
  2. 2

    Create an app-specific password

Click Continue with Apple, sign in, go to Sign-In and Security > App-Specific Passwords, click + and name it Caletus. Paste the password with your Apple ID email.
  3. 3

    Pick your calendars

Tick the calendars under 'Check these calendars for conflicts', choose one under 'Add new bookings to', then click Save.
Access

What Caletus can see in your Apple Calendar (iCloud)

Caletus stores your app-specific password encrypted and never shows it again. It only sends it to iCloud over HTTPS. Disconnecting deletes the saved password, and you can revoke it any time at appleid.apple.com.
Permissions requested
  • Read your iCloud calendar list: each calendar's name, color and whether you can write to it
  • Read events on the calendars you tick for conflicts, to work out busy times (Caletus keeps only start and end times)
  • Create, update and delete the events Caletus adds for your bookings in the calendar you choose
If you disconnect: Busy times from iCloud stop blocking your availability and new bookings aren't added to iCloud. Events already in iCloud stay there. Caletus deletes the saved password but keeps your calendar choices for a later reconnect.
Good to know

Apple Calendar (iCloud) limits and quick fixes.

  • A calendar link is read-only: it blocks busy times but Caletus can't add bookings to it, and anyone with a public calendar link can see its events.
  • Bookings are only added to a calendar you can write to. With no writable iCloud calendar, nothing is added.
  • Events marked Free or cancelled in iCloud don't block your time.
  • Apple Calendar isn't a meeting place, so it doesn't create video links. Pick a meeting place on each event type.
  • One iCloud account per person in each workspace. Connection attempts are limited to 10 every 10 minutes.
Fixing common Apple Calendar (iCloud) problems
  • This happens when the app-specific password is revoked. Create a new app-specific password at appleid.apple.com, then open the Apple Calendar card in Integrations and connect again.

Common questions about using Apple Calendar (iCloud) with Caletus.

Talk it through with our team
  • Yes. Caletus connects to iCloud Calendar with your Apple ID email and an app-specific password. Busy times on the calendars you pick are removed from your booking slots, and each new booking is added to the iCloud calendar you choose.

  • Apple doesn't offer a sign-in-with-Apple option for iCloud Calendar, so an app-specific password is the way third-party apps connect. It isn't your Apple ID password: Apple shows it as four groups of four letters. Caletus stores it encrypted, and you can revoke it any time at appleid.apple.com.

  • Yes, with a calendar link. Share an iCloud calendar as a public calendar, copy the link and paste it into Caletus. Busy times on it will block your booking slots, but Caletus can't add bookings to it, and anyone with the link can see its events.
